Ingredients Used to Make Black Grapes and Blueberry Smoothie:
Purple grape smoothies pack a punch with both nutrition and incredible flavour. This fruity blend features some of nature’s finest ingredients, perfect for a quick breakfast or a refreshing snack to keep you feeling your best!
- Red Grapes: Grapes often get overlooked in smoothie recipes, but they’re fantastic additions. Frozen grapes make for delightful snacks straight from the freezer and bring a unique texture and flavour to smoothies. They’re also rich in copper, as well as vitamins B & K.
- Blueberries: Not only do blueberries deepen the colour of the smoothie, but they also bring additional antioxidants and fibre to the mix. Reserve a few for garnish or, if you’re feeling adventurous, pour the smoothie over a bowlful of blueberries for an extra burst of berry goodness!
- Avocado: A cornerstone of any great smoothie, avocados contribute creaminess, fibre, and healthy fats.
- Yogurt: I opted for Greek yogurt to boost the protein content, but any yogurt works just fine. Opt for plain yogurt since the grapes and bananas provide plenty of sweetness. Feel free to swap in plant-based yogurt if you prefer.
- Plant-Based Milk: Choosing any dairy-free milk you prefer will make this recipe even creamier. But, if you go for soy, cashew, or oat, you’ll improve your odds even more! If you fancy a sweeter smoothie, pick a sweetened plant milk rather than an unsweetened one.
- Dates: These naturally sweeten the smoothie with their delicious vanilla-caramel flavour, providing a healthy and sugar-free treat that’s both nutritious and tasty!
- Vanilla Essence: Adds an extra layer of flavour to enhance the overall taste.

Helpful Tips and Tricks to Make Black Grapes and Blueberry Smoothie:
- Enjoy the smoothie immediately, but if you want to save some for later, pour the extra into an ice cube tray and freeze. When you’re ready for another serving, blend the ice cubes with a splash of almond milk for a smooth consistency.
- Choose your grapes: While purple grapes are my favourite, you can use red or green grapes as well. Just ensure they’re seedless. If you prefer white grape juice, simply swap the green grapes for red ones. Don’t forget to replace the frozen blueberries with extra frozen green grapes for a delightful twist!
Additional Mix-Ins:
- Add protein powder for an extra protein boost. Blend it with almond milk first to avoid a gritty texture.
- Incorporate kale for some added greens. Blend it with almond milk before adding other ingredients.
- Sprinkle in chia seeds or ground flax seeds for additional protein, fibre, and healthy fats.
- Add a frozen banana for additional creaminess and for a more filling smoothie.
Enhancements:
- For a refreshing cocktail variation, swap the plant-based milk and yoghurt with chilled champagne or wine using the same ingredients. Serve immediately in frosty glasses with a couple of frozen grapes for an extra chill!
- If you’re craving a thicker texture, decrease the liquid by about half and blend using the a food processor. Top with thinly sliced grapes, fresh blueberries, chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and, if available, slices of candied lemon peel for an indulgent treat!
