Key Ingredients For This Quick & Warm Mexican Black Bean Dip

Crafting a delicious Black Bean Dip is a breeze, and whether you choose to whip up your own refried beans or opt for canned ones, the key is selecting a quality brand for a flavoursome foundation.

Start with:

  1. Black Beans:  I like to start with dried beans, but canned is a great short cut and works well. I recommend rinsing canned ones well.
  2. Sour Cream and Cream Cheese (optional) : Elevate the creaminess of your dip by adding sour cream and cream cheese. Not only does it add a velvety texture, but it also amps up the protein content.
  3. Salsa: I’m all about the freshest ingredients! My go-to is a homemade salsa or pico de gallo. If you’re not stocked up on fresh salsa, grab a container from your deli or grocery store’s produce section, or your favourite jarred salsa will do the trick! The key is embracing that burst of freshness to elevate the dish.
  4. Coriander: The aromatic and citrusy notes of coriander leaves add a burst of freshness that complements the rich and savoury flavours of the dip.
  5. Spices: Bring the heat with a blend of pantry essentials – chilli powder, cumin, garlic powder, and tex-mex seasoning. These spices come together to elevate the taste profile of your bean dip.
  6. Lime Juice: It’s the secret ingredient that brings a burst of citrusy freshness to your black bean dip, enhancing the overall flavour profile.
  7. Shredded Cheese: Introduce a layer of richness with shredded cheddar or a Mexican blend cheese. For a bit of kick, Spicy Jack cheese is an excellent addition.

Now, let’s combining these simple yet vibrant ingredients to create a Black Bean Dip that not only tantalises the taste buds but also caters to your desire for a quick, flavour-packed delight.

How to Make Quick & Warm Mexican Black Bean Dip

Creating this irresistible black bean dip is a breeze, and today, use a blender or a food processor both work well!

Here’s how:

  1. Preheat the Oven : at 180ºC

  4. Blitz to Perfection: With all your components in the blender or food processor, hit the pulse or dip setting. Let the magic happen as the ingredients meld into a creamy and flavour-packed concoction. Keep blending until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Bake: Spread the beans in a baking dish. Drizzle with your choice of hot sauce and the reserved whole black beans. Topping it with a cup of shredded cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted. Enjoy the irresistible goodness fresh out of the oven with your favourite toppings!
