Falahari chutney or Vrat chutney is made from coriander leaves, green chilies, and peanuts and is often eaten during vrats (Hindu fasting days) and festivals. The word falahari is derived from 'fal' which means fruits and 'Ahaar' which means food or diet. So falahari means a diet that consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, and their derivatives. Along with fruits and vegetables, certain herbs, dry fruits, and some dairy products are a part of the falahari diet. No onion or garlic is consumed during the fasting days and vrat recipes are prepared with mainly sattvic ingredients.
