Ingredients Needed to Make Chocolate Oreo Truffles – Tempting Treats

Creating my easy Oreo truffles with cream cheese is a breeze with just a handful of pantry staples! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Oreo Cookies: Simply grab a pack of regular Oreo cookies for this recipe!
  • Cream Cheese: Ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature to achieve a smooth and cohesive truffle mixture.
  • Hazelnuts: Add a delightful crunch and nutty flavour to your truffles with hazelnuts!
  • Chocolate : I opt for a mix of white and dark chocolate for that perfect outer candy shell.
  • Coconut Oil: To help form the shell on the truffles, I incorporate coconut oil into the melted chocolates. Alternatively, feel free to substitute with melted butter or any preferred oil if coconut isn’t your thing!

How to Make Chocolate Oreo Truffles

  1. Prepare the Oreo truffle filling — Place the Oreos (including the cream filling) in a food processor and pulse until they form a fine powder. Add the softened cream cheese and a pinch of salt, then pulse until the mixture combines.
  2. Shape and chill the truffles — Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of the Oreo mixture and roll them into balls. Arrange the truffles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate the tray for 30 minutes to allow the truffles to firm up.
  3. Prepare the chocolate coating — As the truffles chill, melt the dark chocolate chips and a small amount of coconut oil in the microwave until fully melted. The coconut oil helps keep the chocolate coating smooth.
  4. Coat and decorate the truffles — Using a fork or dipping spoon, dip each Oreo truffle into the melted chocolate coating, ensuring it’s fully covered. Shake off any excess chocolate and return the truffles to the baking tray. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle rose petals and Oreo cookie crumbles over the truffles for decoration.
  5. Set and enjoy — Place the tray of coated truffles back in the fridge to allow the chocolate coating to set. Once firm, your Oreo truffles are ready to be enjoyed!

Helpful Tips and Tricks to Make the Best Oreo Truffles

  • Opt for regular, full-fat cream cheese for maximum flavour and texture. Light cream cheese may result in a thinner consistency and less delicious truffles.
  • Don’t skip the chilling step! Refrigerating the Oreo and cream cheese mixture before dipping it in chocolate is crucial. This helps the truffles firm up, reducing the likelihood of them falling apart and preventing crumbs from getting into the melted chocolate.
  • Use two forks for easy dipping. Simply roll the truffle in the melted chocolate using the forks, then lift it out and let it set on parchment paper.
  • Take care when melting the chocolate. Microwave it in short intervals and stir frequently to prevent burning. Chocolate can be temperamental, so patience is key to achieving the perfect consistency.
  • Get creative with toppings! For a festive touch, try decorating your Oreo truffles with sprinkles to suit different holiday themes.
